Answer any questions you may have.
-
Complete a short interview as the first part of your home study.
-
Specific information about licensing requirements for locking up medications and other chemicals will also be provided.
4. If we all agree we’re a good fit for each other, we will schedule a start date for training and give you a licensing packet that will require you to:
-
Turn in identification for background check and do fingerprinting.
-
Ask three references to fill out the reference forms.
-
Provide proof of income, car insurance, and immunizations.
-
Visit your doctor to show that you are healthy enough to do foster care.
5. You will attend a hybrid of online, virtual, and in person pre-service training.
6. Complete part two of your home study including questions about your relationships, upbringing, beliefs about discipline, and children in general.
-
This will include a final walk through (inspection) of your home with a trained Utah Youth Village employee.
-
They will measure youth bedrooms and check for adequate lighting, storage, and window safety.
7. You will make any corrections from the home inspection, and after that is verified…
Congratulations, you are licensed and may now start having access to referrals to find the right youth for your home!
