Families First Specialist

The Families First program operates statewide. To be considered for potential openings in your area, please send your resume and any questions to the Families First Director, Wayne Arner, at [email protected].

The Families First Specialist will provide intensive in-home behavioral teaching to families who are dealing with severe behavioral problems and have been referred by DCFS, the Juvenile Court System, and other contracted agencies. The Families First Specialist will use the principles of the Teaching Family Model to teach families, parents, and children skills to help alleviate the stressors in the home. Each Specialist is expected to work with at least 18 families per year, managing a caseload of 2-5 families at a time. Home environments may range from wealthy to impoverished families with a range of cleanliness issues and behavior problems. Utah Youth Village will provide detailed training and 24-hour on-the-job support. Spanish Speakers are particularly needed and will be given special consideration. Starting Salary: $34,500 Negotiable BOE

Youth Mentor

The Youth Mentor will meet with a youth once or twice a week to provide positive support to a youth on a variety of issues as well as help the youth develop stronger independent living and social skills. The youth population will be ages 4-18, and most of them will have been involved in one of Utah Youth Village’s other programs. Youth Mentors will work with 1-4 youth at a time, depending on their availability. This position is part-time and flexible around the Youth Mentor’s and the youth’s schedule. A Youth Mentor must have a high school diploma or equivalent. This position provides excellent paid work experience for students or others looking for a way to get into the Social Work field. Starting Hourly Pay: $13.70
